Metropolitan Grill Teams Up with Seattle Seahawk Russell Wilson to Empower Youth

Donating $25,000 to Russell Wilson’s Why Not You Foundation

SEATTLE – Metropolitan Grill kicks off the football season announcing an exciting partnership with Russell Wilson. In honor of Wilson and his #3 jersey, The Met donates 3% of all gift cards sales ongoing to the Why Not You Foundation, an organization dedicated to creating real and lasting change in the world by motivating, empowering and preparing today’s youth to be tomorrow’s leaders.

In a private ceremony at Metropolitan Grill last evening after yesterday’s Seahawks’ win against the San Francisco 49ers, Wilson was presented with The Met’s first annual check of $25,000 to his foundation.

Russell Wilson has been a guest, friend, and family member to The Met for several years since joining the Seattle Seahawks. Met diners soon came to learn that they would see the star quarterback at the award-winning steakhouse after each home game

In 2014, at a private gathering hosted by Russell Investments, Wilson announced he was launching his Why Not You Foundation to empower change in the world, one individual at a time, and one child at a time. Several Met Grill managers and staff were present and vowed to help support Wilson’s charity.

“The Met staff is like family to me,” said Wilson. “Sure, the food is delicious, but it’s really the people who make The Met my home. I've been coming here after every game since my rookie year. It's a tradition. Visiting with my family and close friends over a special dinner is something I look forward to each season. We both have strong ties to Seattle Children’s Hospital, and The Met has played a big part in my charity golf tournament, the Wilson Celebrity Invitational, over the years. We're just making our family ties that much stronger with this latest announcement. I am grateful for The Met’s generous donation and commitment to helping make a positive impact in the lives of today’s youth.”

“It is with a great deal of pride that we support the Why Not You Foundation,” said Jim Rowe, President of Consolidated Restaurants, the owner of Metropolitan Grill at last evening’s check presentation. “Russell is a remarkable role model for the youth of today. We give our full-fledged support to his tremendous cause.”
