Meet Jessica Abramson-Lott

This month's Faces of Why Not You spotlight is coming your way. We are excited to recognize Jessica Abramson-Lott, one of our fearless board members!

Jessica and Family.

Jessica and Family.

Jessica joined the Why Not You Foundation board in 2018, while at the time serving as the President of Ciara’s entertainment company, Beauty Marks Entertainment. Through her other board work at Safe Crossings Foundation and being an advisor at The Healing Center, anchored in providing support for childhood grief, the Why Not You mission resonated deeply with her.

One of the most rewarding initiatives recalled by Jessica is the creation of the Why Not You Scholars in partnership with the College Success Foundation. Last year, eight outstanding students were selected as recipients of this scholarship, enabling them to achieve their dream of being the first in their family to go to college. “As we read their applications I was inspired by their Why Not You attitudes despite the adversities they had overcome. I’m excited to continue this program and help more kids live their dreams”.

When asked what the Why Not You attitude meant to her, Jessica replied, “I come from a long line of driven, educated, career-oriented women dating back to my great grandmother. From a young age, I have been inspired by them and determined to work toward a society where every child, particularly girls are raised knowing they can achieve whatever they put their minds to.  From working in professional sports for the Seattle Mariners, in technology for the first streaming music service Rhapsody, in entertainment as President of Beauty Marks, and beating cancer at age 21 to now running half marathons, I believe I have achieved many goals with my Why Not You Attitude. My hope is that we live in a world where every child can dream as big as Russell, Ciara, my great grandmother, or me.  Where they can say, Why Not Me and their dreams can come true”.

In the future, Jessica wants to see the foundation continue to change children’s lives because in her words, making an impact and changing the trajectory of a child is the biggest gift we could give. Thank you, Jessica, for everything you do for the Why Not You Foundation and the community!
