Ciara Joins the Why Not You Foundation Board of Directors
GRAMMY Award Winning Artist Sets Out to Empower Girls and Young Women
Seattle, WA – December 6, 2017, – Why Not You Foundation today announced that Ciara, GRAMMY Award winning singer/songwriter, producer, actress, model, wife, and mother of two will join the board of directors as vice president of the board. Founded in 2014 by Super Bowl Champion Russell Wilson, the Foundation is dedicated to empowering change in the world, one individual and one child at a time, by motivating and preparing today’s youth to be tomorrow’s leaders. Ciara, joining her husband on the board of directors, will focus on supporting programs that directly empower girls and young women locally, nationally and globally.

Every girl and young woman should have the opportunity to grow in a healthy and positive way with access to education and empowerment skills needed to be successful. Ciara and Russell have a shared vision to change the world. Her dedication to empower girls and young women fits perfectly within the Foundation’s focus areas of education, health, poverty and global impact. Along with her passion, Ciara’s global reach will help spread the Why Not You Foundation’s message to the more than 50 million followers on her social media platforms.
“Ciara has been a longtime supporter of the Why Not You Foundation and a passionate advocate for the programs we support,” said Carly Young, Executive Director of the Why Not You Foundation. “In addition to taking on an active role in guiding the Foundation’s future, Ciara, along with Russell, will continue their weekly visits to Seattle Children’s as well as to other partner organizations. We are thrilled to have her officially a part of our board.”
Over the last two years the Why Not You Foundation has partnered with Safeway for the Wilson Celebrity Invitational where millions have been raised for pediatric cancer research, The Foundation is also actively supporting the Seattle Children’s Hospital campaign to raise $1 billion in order to create hope, world class care and cures. In addition to these activities, the Foundation will continue to host various fundraising events and partner with local and national organizations to further its mission.
